HP Elite Dragonfly G2 promises 5G connectivity, 1000-nit touchscreen and an improved Sure View privacy filter

The Original Elite Dragonfly is barely half a year old and it's already getting a successor. The Elite Dragonfly G2 will be available next month with a couple of new upgrades over the previous generation.

Firstly, the Dragonfly G2 will receive 10th gen Intel Comet Lake-U Core i3, i5, and i7 options whereas the first generation model was limited to Whiskey Lake-U. The reason to go with Comet Lake instead of Ice Lake is simple; Intel will integrate vPro support for its Comet Lake series this year which many businesses rely on for security purposes.

The second upgrade relates to the display. The manufacturer will be introducing a 1000-nit FHD Sure View option that promises to be less intrusive to the colors and clarity of the screen. While Sure View can be useful for privacy, it's notorious for impacting display quality even when the feature is disabled. Thus, a Sure View screen will typically look grainier and less vibrant than the displays of a MacBook Pro or XPS 15. The latest Sure View version will address this disadvantage to a degree.

Other than the above changes, the Dragonfly G2 will be visually identical to last year's model. Expect the system to launch this Summer with starting prices to be announced at a later date. The new model was announced alongside the redesigned Spectre x360 15.
