Sony Xperia 5 Plus renders shows a ToF sensor and more

The release of the Sony Xperia 5 in late 2019 may be followed up sometime soon with the launch of the Sony Xperia 5 Plus. That’s according to gadget leaker Onleaks, who has just posted some renders of the phone via Slashleaks.

The renders, along with a 360-degree 3D video, showcase a few differences between the Xperia 5 and the Xperia 5 Plus. One big one is that the triple rear camera setup on the Xperia 5 has been upgraded with an additional ToF sensor for the Xperia 5 Plus. Another difference is that the Plus model has an old-fashioned 3.5mm headphone jack on top. In our review of the Xperia 5, we lamented the loss of the headphone jack. If the renders for the Plus are accurate, that could be a big… plus.

The article claims the Plus model will have a 6.6-inch display, compared to the 6.1-inch screen found on the standard Xperia 5. Onleaks also claims the Plus will have an 8MP front-facing camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and dual front-firing speakers. There’s not a lot of info on additional specs for the Plus at this time. The Xperia 5 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, with a microSD card for adding more storage. It also has a 3,140mAh battery.

Keep in mind that these renders do not come from Sony, so the final look and specs for the Xperia 5 Plus could be somewhat different when it gets officially announced. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
