Apple Rumored to Unveil 'Several' New Macs at WWDC
The iPhone maker could be growing its family of flagship computers with at least one new model.
Predictions for Apple's WWDC keynote presentation continue to roll in, with Bloomberg's Mark Gurman anticipating that Apple will announce "several" new Mac models during the event. In a tweet Wednesday, Gurman reiterated that in addition to launching a fresh set of computers, the tech giant will also unveil a mixed reality headset and a new version of its operating system. On Thursday, he seemed to confirm that at least one new Mac is on the way. It's the latest among the rumored reveals for Apple's developers conference, which kicks off June 5.
Gurman also reported Wednesday that Apple appears to be readying the release of a line of professionally focused desktop computers, as the company is said to be testing a pair of new high-end Macs and their accompanying processors.
Gurman previously pointed out that on June 5, Apple will begin accepting trade-ins for the Mac Studio, the 13-inch MacBook Air (with M2 chip) and the 13-inch MacBook Pro (M2), which may help support his latest prediction.

While it is expected that company will introduce a 15-inch MacBook Air, it is still unclear which other models may be joining the Apple lineup, though some rumors have hinted at a new Mac Pro. The Mac Pro and Mac Studio still operate with M1 chips, leading to speculation that both may finally get an upgrade. New models are expected to be powered by the M2 chip, which provides twice the speed of its predecessor, a longer battery life, better connectivity and 8K capabilities.
Earlier this month, Gurman noted in his Power On newsletter that the arrival of an M3 chip may be imminent in new Apple computers, with the possibility of the upgraded tech landing in late 2023 or early 2024.

Apple Opens WWDC With Keynote June 5, as Rumors Point to AR/VR Headset Reveal
The company is also expected to show off iOS 17 and possibly a new MacBook Air.
Apple has confirmed it will kick off this year's Worldwide Developers Conference, set for June 5-9, with a keynote address on the first day at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. The WWDC keynote will take place at the tech giant's Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California, and be available to watch online as well as on the Apple TV app.
Apple traditionally uses its WWDC keynote speech to show off new features coming to its software, which are then generally released as free updates in the fall. This year that's expected to include iOS 17, as well as updates to iPadOS, MacOS and WatchOS. However, the company may have more than software to show off this year.
After years of rumors and speculation, Apple's mixed-reality headset will reportedly make its debut at WWDC. The headset is expected to incorporate elements of both augmented reality, which lays digital images over real-world environments, and virtual reality. The headset is rumored to have high-end features with a slim visor design and external battery back. It's expected to cost as much as $3,000, but Apple may position the headset as a foot in the door rather than its final form.
Apple may also show off a new 15-inch MacBook Air as well as a new top-of-the-line Mac Pro. The Mac Pro will reportedly run on a chip called the M2 Ultra processor -- likely the successor to the M1 Ultra -- that has 24 CPU cores, 76 graphics cores and 192GB of memory.
