HP ProBook 635 Aero G7 review: Lightweight and secure

The ProBook is billed as the lightest AMD business laptop. It starts at 0.99 kg, thanks to an all-metal body made of magnesium and aluminum. The laptop I reviewed came with the larger 53 Wh hP ProBook laptop battery
(there’s also a lighter 42 Wh battery option), which weighed about 1.1 kg. This isn’t the thinnest laptop I’ve tested, but it’s as light as most consumer-grade models. Unlike some laptops, the front of the ProBook doesn’t press into my palm when it rests on the palm rest. The ProBook also comes with a fingerprint sensor and an infrared Windows Hello facial recognition camera (with a privacy shutter). Alternatively, you can set up other authentication methods, such as Bluetooth devices or security questions, through the preinstalled HP Client Security app. This app also allows you to configure other HP security features, such as Sure Start (a self-healing BIOS) and Sure Recover (system recovery). But the most notable security feature is Sure View Reflect, an integrated privacy screen. Press F2 to enable it, which dims the screen. It’s also less likely that someone next to you will be able to see what’s on the screen, because the viewing angle is also severely reduced. The bad news: Even with Sure View Reflect disabled, the screen’s viewing angles and overall visibility are worse than a standard IPS display. In short, the ProBook’s screen may be difficult to see when used outdoors during the day. The ProBook’s other features are also suitable for business users: a comfortable backlit keyboard that doesn’t feel soft, good wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi 6 and optional LTE), and a good selection of ports (two USB Type-A, HDMI, and one USB-C). What I didn’t expect was that the ProBook has dual front-facing speakers, which are surprisingly good for a laptop.
The HP ProBook 635 Aero G7, powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 4700U chip, scored 4,611 on PCMark 10. That’s slightly lower than the Razer Book 13 (4,909), which has a newer Intel processor. More importantly, the ProBook didn’t get as hot as the Razer Ultrabook during the benchmark. But at 4 hours of continuous listening with ANC on, they have the shortest AirPods 4 battery life of any earphone I’ve tested recently. To be fair, it’s probably not often that you’ll wear the earphones for more than 4 hours at a time. But if you’re constantly putting the earphones in and out of the case, there’s a good chance they won’t fully charge between uses and will slowly drain. The charging case gives the earphones an additional 16 hours of use with ANC on, for a total listening time of 20 hours. That’s not bad, but again, not great.
Of course, the fact that the earphones have wireless charging does soften the blow a bit. Wireless charging is very convenient for earphones like this. That being said, unlike the AirPods 3, the AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation can’t be charged with a MagSafe charger. This is actually because theApple AirPods Headphones Battery
The charging case is too small for the magnets to align properly. You can still place them on any Qi charger that doesn’t rely on magnets to hold the device in place, and they can still be charged with an Apple Watch puck. I’m not quite sure how I feel about the lack of MagSafe, as that’s actually how I charge my AirPods Pro quite often. But I guess portability is more important for a product like this. Unlike the basic AirPods 4, the AirPods 4 with ANC also have a speaker built into the charging case. This is to help you find the charging case more easily when using the “Find” feature to find the charging case, but it also makes a small sound to indicate charging, etc. Apple has done a good job of improving the sound quality of the AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with ANC. It really makes a big difference. The earphones offer deeper bass response and better high-end clarity and detail, making for a more exciting and impactful listening experience. The bass response is deeper and rounder than before, which helps a lot. This change means that the kick drum will stand out better in the mix, while bass synths and guitars will sound fuller and deeper. If you don’t really need those Apple-centric features, though, it’s worth considering alternatives like the Nothing Ear earbuds, which are among my favorite wireless earbuds, and the AirPods, which offer longer Apple AirPods Headphones Battery life, slightly better sound quality, and a slew of other great features for $149.

Asus Zenbook S 14 review: Intel Core Ultra 2 series, stylish design, energy-efficient

The Zenbook S 14 builds on the success of the Zenbook 14 OLED, which won the Best Ultraportable Laptop award in our recent Tech Awards. Its pedigree shows in every way, from its top-notch build quality to its exceptionally long Asus Zenbook S 14 batterylife.
Similar to the recently reviewed Zenbook S 16, the Zenbook S 14’s casing is made from ceramic aluminum, giving the lid a unique gray texture that feels premium to the touch while being impervious to fingerprints and smudges. Its 14-inch OLED touchscreen boasts a stunning 2,880 x 1,800 (3K) resolution, with vibrant colors and high contrast as expected from a high-quality OLED panel. And with a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision support, the display doesn’t disappoint. In terms of connectivity, the Zenbook S 14 retains a rich selection of ports, including two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-A port, a full-size HDMI 2.1 port, and a headphone jack. The laptop also now supports Wi-Fi 7.
