If you’re wondering how to charge your Galaxy smartwatch battery, there are a few methods to choose from. We’ll show you how in this guide. While we like our Samsung smartwatches to last for weeks or even months, the reality is that you’ll need to charge your Galaxy Watch battery frequently.
Still, whether you have a Galaxy Watch 7, Watch Ultra, or an older Samsung smartwatch on your wrist, charging is a breeze. Depending on which Samsung Galaxy Watch you own, you may also have a variety of charging options.
Below we’ve got a guide on how to charge your Samsung Galaxy Watch.
1. Charge your Samsung Galaxy Watch with a cable The easiest way to charge your Galaxy Watch is to use the charging cable that came with your watch. If you bought a new Galaxy Watch, it should look like a long cable with a disc on the end. Once you’ve found your charging cable, follow these steps:
Place the back of your Galaxy Watch on top of the rounded portion of the cable. You should feel the case magnetically attach to the charger.
Wait until you see the green charging ring and current battery percentage appear on the screen. If your Samsung Galaxy Watch battery is completely drained, it may take a minute or so before you see the above information on the screen.2. Wirelessly Charge Your Samsung Galaxy WatchSome Samsung Galaxy Watches also support wireless charging, providing a more convenient way to charge without having to dig around for a charging cable.
Slightly confusingly, some Samsung smartwatches that support this charging method are compatible with most chargers that use the more common Qi wireless charging standard. These watches include older watches such as the Galaxy Watch (launched in 2018), Galaxy Watch Active (launched in 2019), Watch Active 2, and Galaxy Watch 3.
If you have a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 or 5, these watches are only compatible with wireless chargers under the WPC (Wireless Power Consortium). The consortium is committed to establishing the Qi charging standard as the global standard for wireless Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 battery charging. This means that any Qi wireless charger can charge these watches
If you have a Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 or Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, these Samsung smartwatches do not support wireless charging like some older Samsung smartwatches. This is because the design of the new sensor makes it incompatible with wireless charging.
3. Charge the Galaxy Watch Battery with a Samsung smartphone If you have a Samsung smartwatch and a Galaxy S10 or newer smartphone, you can conveniently charge your watch using Samsung’s Wireless PowerShare feature. Simply place your Galaxy Watch on the back of a compatible Samsung smartphone to transfer power from the phone to your watch. As with the Galaxy Watch 7 Battery and Galaxy Watch Ultra Battery wireless charging features, Samsung’s Wireless PowerShare mode is not supported due to the new sensor design.
If you have an older Samsung Galaxy Watch that supports Wireless PowerShare, here’s how to set it up: Go to your Samsung smartphone settings and search for Wireless Charging. If it’s not enabled, tap the toggle to turn it on. Turn your smartphone over and place the back of your Samsung smartwatch just below the camera sensor. You’ll hear a vibrating buzz and see the charging status on your watch, which means charging has successfully started.
