However, the easiest way is to use iCloud. iCloud: When everything is fine

iCloud is a free account that is associated with your Apple ID and can back up your iPhone. However, it will not back up all the content on your phone. What you purchase with your Apple ID will not be backed up because Apple has a receipt for your purchase.

To start backing up to iCloud, connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi, then go to “Settings” and click on the Apple ID/iCloud tab at the top, which also has your name. Calculate iCloud backup size

To determine how much iCloud space your backup files will occupy, go to “Settings”, click Apple ID/iCloud, then click “iCloud”, then click “Manage Storage”, and finally click “Backup”. There is a list of devices that are backing up or trying to back up using your account.

By the way, if you see multiple backups of the same phone, check the age of each backup. You may have an older iPhone backup that you can delete to open iCloud space. After clearing this list, click the name of the device you are currently using. Then look at the top of the screen. You should see the following details: last backup, backup size, and next backup size. If it exceeds 5GB, you can either buy more storage space or adjust what you want to back up.

Change what is backed up to iCloud

At the bottom of the screen under Next Backup Size is a list where you can select the data to be backed up. This list will contain the applications and the amount of data that must be backed up by each application.

Buy more iCloud storage

Use iTunes

Remember iTunes? Nice iTunes. If you are running MacOS Mojave or using a PC, you can simply plug your phone into your computer and back it up to iTunes instead of using iCloud. Open iTunes. If you are using a PC, you may need to download it first. After you grant the device permission to talk to each other, click the small iPhone icon in the upper left corner of the iTunes window.

Scroll down to the “Backup” section and select “This computer” under “Automatic backup”. After some time, your computer will have a backup file of the iPhone. To double check the file, go to the iTunes menu, select Preferences and select the device tab. From there, you can see a list of any iPhone backups you made through iTunes.

Backup using MacOS Finder

You may have heard the rumor that the MacOS Catalina released in 2019 has cancelled iTunes. This is real. The functions of iTunes are being broken down and redistributed. You only need to use the Finder window instead of backing up to the iTunes application. Open a Finder window from the Dock. Select your device under Devices in the sidebar. Then click the General tab on the right. Next, click Back up now.
