The actual battery life is slightly below average. We managed to get 1 hour and 24 minutes under full load on the Surface Book 3 (full brightness, forced discrete graphics, performance mode on, running the SPECviewperf 13 test). Finally, in the typical use test (screen brightness at about 60%, running a lot of Chrome and Office windows, using a few Fusion 360 programs, and using the recommended power mode), the Surface Book 3 lasted 4 hours and 10 minutes.

Interestingly, in the latter two tests, both batteries were active until the clipboard battery reached 79% and there was no pause. It restarted when the base battery reached 40%. In the high performance test, the clipboard battery was dormant from the beginning (probably due to the power profile), but it also started when the base battery reached 40%. Surface Book 3 is available in 13.5-inch and 15-inch sizes. Although the Surface Book 3 is equipped with Intel’s 10th generation processors, its CPU options are disappointing. We recommend several laptops that are great for creators or gamers. But as a device that combines entertainment, gaming, and business all in one (a unique combination, to be sure), the ZBook Studio G8 is a refined, well-performing product with powerful specs and a lot of features. HP’s ZBook Studio G8 is a versatile laptop, but it stands apart from other gaming laptops in a few major ways, most notably its backlit RGB keyboard with customizable backlighting for each key. It’s the only business laptop from HP to come with this feature, and it even comes with the company’s Omen Gaming Hub installed by default in the taskbar, where you can adjust keyboard backlight settings and optimize performance for any game you install.
