Insta360 X3 All-in-one Action Camera Review

As a motorcycle videographer who constantly pushes the boundaries of video production, my quest for cutting-edge tools led me to explore the Insta360 vehicle-mounted camera. Insta360 X3 Action Camera

Ease of Use, Video Stabilization

The Insta360 X3 is an action camera that records 360 degrees simultaneously. There are many different types of mounts on the market, so you can use this camera almost anywhere. It has built-in video stabilization to improve image quality and reduce video shake. When used with an invisible selfie stick, it allows for a third-person perspective.

Beyond its technical capabilities, the X3 also satisfies the demanding tastes of motorcycle enthusiasts. It captures a dynamic third-person perspective reminiscent of video games, allowing riders to show off their skills and share exciting moments in a cinematic style, especially when using an extended selfie stick.

Clips shot by MCN using the Insta360 X3 Camera Battery

Is the Insta360 X3 good?

The standout feature of the Insta360 X3 camera is the seamless integration of two wide-angle lenses that allow for stunning 360-degree video that captures the entire environment. This not only provides wide coverage, but also allows for precise control during the editing process, ensuring that no details are missed, providing viewers with an immersive experience.

Is the battery life good?

The X3 comes with a powerful 1800 mAh removable Insta360 X3 Camera Battery

, capable of shooting an impressive 81 minutes of 5.7K 360-degree video. It’s also worth noting that the camera performed above expectations in a variety of temperatures, including the cold air encountered at high speeds. How’s the sound quality?

While the built-in microphone works well in quieter environments, capturing the subtle sounds of a powerful superbike at full speed may require pairing the X3 with a dedicated audio recorder for a more immersive listening experience.

What are exposure methods and ND filters?

Balancing exposure is essential to capturing a true sense of speed. While the automatic setting can produce stunning results, the transparent 360-degree field of view limits the use of specific ND filters and frame rates, which can be a challenge for users seeking more precise control over the captured view.

Nikon D4S Review – Field Testing Part 3

For my final batch of photos shot with the Nikon D4S, I decided to do some documentary photography around Greenwich Village. I purposely chose to shoot from dusk to early evening to test the camera’s amazing high ISO capabilities.

Nikon D4S Replacement Camera Battery

Set to Auto ISO, I shot a series of portraits of people walking on the street and sitting inside and outside restaurants. The D4S’s sensitivity climbs from ISO 14,400 equivalent all the way up to an amazing ISO 229,880.

To test the Nikon D4S’s video capabilities, I took it to Tompkins Square Park one evening. I wanted to experiment with the extremely shallow depth of field that the camera’s full-frame sensor can achieve when paired with the AF-S 50mm f/1.4 lens. I set the lens to focus on some flowers in the foreground, then shifted focus to people walking by in the background and shot several clips using a shutter speed of 1/125 and apertures ranging from f/1.6 to f/2.8.

It was very easy to compose the shot on the LCD and check exposure with a quick test clip. I had trouble focusing accurately at normal magnification when using the Nikon D4S’s LCD monitor, but I solved this by increasing the live view magnification, which allowed critical focus with a simple button press. While I kept the sensitivity at ISO 200 equivalent for the best footage, you can record movies in manual exposure mode using Auto ISO. This is certainly useful in certain news and documentary shooting scenarios, where light can change during filming.

Leica D-Lux 4 camera review

I’ve been waiting for this review. Back in November 2008, I tested what I considered to be the best compact digital camera currently available: the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3. I gave it a well-deserved 10 out of 10 and an Editors’ Choice award, and named it Compact Camera of the Year at this year’s awards ceremony. I wasn’t the only one who admired the LX3; I was one of them. She’s also won an impressive array of top awards from a number of other photography magazines and websites. I mention this because today I’m looking at the Leica D-Lux 4.

There are some obvious differences, the most obvious of which is the price. The LX3 isn’t cheap, and even 18 months after its launch it still costs around £320. However, compared to the Leica D-Lux 4, which costs between £510 and £595 depending on where you buy it, it seems like a bargain. That’s the price of a good mid-range DSLR with a kit lens. What’s so good about it?

Leica D-Lux 4 camera Battery

So is it good value for money? Like the LX3, the D-Lux 4 has excellent build quality and a simple, classic design, but there are some subtle differences. Leica is one of the oldest brands in photography, having invented the 35mm rangefinder camera format in 1923, and unsurprisingly it’s happy to benefit from this impressive heritage. Modern Leica film and digital cameras closely resemble their 90-year-old ancestors, and the D-Lux 4 also has a distinctly retro look and feel. While the overall body shape is nearly identical to the LX3, there are some subtle differences. The top plate is flat, rather than rounded like the LX3, and the D-Lux 4 lacks the comfortable front grip of the Panasonic version. The camera’s front panel is flat and simple, and doesn’t distract from the small, expensive red logo in the upper left corner. The D-Lux 4 has all of the great features of the LX3. The best of these is the excellent wide-angle lens, with an aperture of f/2.0-f/2.8, equivalent to a 2.5x zoom at 24-60mm. This lens is Leica’s main contribution to the success of the design. While some may find the limited zoom range restrictive, the fast maximum aperture gives the camera excellent low-light capabilities at all zoom settings, and the sheer optical quality gives the D-Lux 4 excellent photographic quality.

The D-Lux 4 also features the same HD video recording mode as the LX3,Leica D-Lux 4 camera Battery

Records at 1280 x 720 resolution and 24 frames per second with mono audio. Editing time is limited to 10 minutes in HD mode, and the optical zoom cannot be used while recording.

As expected, the overall performance of the D-Lux 4 is exactly the same as the LX3, which is to say it performs quite well. It starts up in just over two seconds, and in single-image mode, the shot-to-shot interval is about 1.7 seconds in the highest JPEG quality mode. When shooting in Raw mode, the shot-to-shot interval is 1.8 seconds, and even at the Raw + Fine JPEG setting, the shooting time is 2.3 seconds, which is quite fast performance by compact camera standards. “‘Conclusive’

The Leica D-Lux 4 is the ultimate luxury compact camera. It is very expensive, also because it carries the legendary Leica brand, but despite this it is still an excellent camera with a simple, classic and beautiful design, as well as excellent build quality, handling, performance and image quality. It may be identical to the Panasonic LX3 in all but name, but for some people, the name is worth the money.

Sony A6600 review: Good, but not as good as Canon

This is a super fun, super high quality, super long battery life Sony A6600 camera, but it doesn’t win our unconditional approval Pros Excellent still image performance and quality Well built, super long

Sony A6600 camera battery life

Sony A6600 review: What you need to know

The A6600 sits between the A9 and A6400. It has an APS-C sensor, 24.2 megapixels, and can shoot photos at up to 11fps – all the same features as the A6400, by the way.

But a closer look reveals a lot of differences. For many, the big draw is the larger A6600 battery. The A6600 also comes with in-body image stabilization, plenty of body-mounted controls, and a larger, more comfortable grip, making it one of the most desirable APS-C cameras you can buy. But there are a lot of competitors on the market – can the A6600 live up to the standards of a mirrorless camera? Sony A6600 review: features and design

There’s no doubt that Sony knows how to build a pro camera. The A9 is the best in its class, but the A6600 exudes absolute elegance despite being over £1,500 cheaper. Its magnesium alloy body feels tough and thick in the hand, and is resistant to moisture and dust. It feels like a camera that will withstand the rigors of professional, must-shoot photography. Extra-large Sony A6600 battery

It needs to go somewhere, which is why the A6600 feels more substantial in the hand than the smaller, flatter A6400. As a result, the grip is easy on the fingers, and we prefer the larger, easier-to-grip ergonomics.

Further complicating your decision is the presence of the Fujifilm X-T3, which costs £1,549 with an 18-55mm lens and matches or even exceeds the Sony A6600 in many ways. It’s a video god, shooting internal 4:2:0 4K at up to 60fps, which compares favorably to the 25fps limit of the Sony 4K. Its 100fps high frame rate option is on par with the A6600, and it’s capable of shooting log.Sony A6600 Camera Battery

Life is a key differentiator, with the Sony’s 720 shots or 150 minutes of video recording comparing very well to the X-T3’s 390 frames or 45 minutes. It’s a long-lasting battle.

Sony A6600 review: features and design

Sony undoubtedly knows how to build a pro camera. The A9 is the best of its class, while the A6600, despite being over £1,500 cheaper, exudes absolute elegance. Its magnesium alloy body feels tough and thick, and is resistant to moisture and dust. It feels like a camera that will stand up to the rigors of professional, must-shoot photography.

Sony A6600 Camera Batteries need somewhere to go, which is why the A6600 feels more substantial in the hand than the smaller, flatter A6400. As a result, the grip fits easily around the fingers, and we prefer the larger, easier-to-grip ergonomics. The A6600’s impressive battery life is due to the use of a rear display, and it’s nice to find a good one here. It’s big, at 3 inches, with a resolution of 921,600 pixels. It’s a touchscreen, of course, and it tilts, holding it perpendicular to the camera body when you’re looking down, and nearly vertical when you’re looking up. It doesn’t swivel out of the camera, but it can flip 180° to face forward, allowing vloggers and selfie enthusiasts to frame their shots accurately. To sum it up

Sony Camera Batteries

The lifespan stats — and they bear repeating because they’re unusually good for a mirrorless camera at this price — are good for up to 720 still photos or 150 minutes of video recording on a single charge. Sony A6600 Review: Verdict

The A6600 is a joy to use. It’s comfortable, fast, and has plenty of on-body controls; experienced photographers will be able to get used to it in no time. We like its viewfinder and balance, as well as its build quality and, of course, that big  Sony A6600 Camera Battery

This goes some way to alleviating the number one criticism of mirrorless cameras, which is that they don’t last long enough on a single charge.

For still photographers, it’s fantastic. Image quality is great, and you can get days of use out of a single charge. Sony’s lens catalog is looking increasingly attractive, whether you’re shopping for mid-range or high-end products. Continuous performance is good enough for almost all types of photography and autofocus needs. Landscape photographers will appreciate the in-camera image stabilization.

If you’re a video photographer, things are a bit different. We didn’t notice such a severe rolling shutter effect when we reviewed the similarly priced Fujifilm X-T3. If you want to shoot high-quality video in the studio, the A6600 is a great choice. If you want to attach a handgrip to it and chase mountain bikers, or shoot free-camera sequences, then you’ll need to look elsewhere. That’s a shame, because the A6600 is otherwise great for filmmakers – but its Achilles’ heel is pretty glaring.

Fujifilm Finepix V10 digital camera review

Photography makes socializing more fun” is Fujifilm’s slogan for its V10 camera, and its unusually high ISO sensitivity should help you take great photos after dark. Gary Wolstenholme sees if this camera can really be the life of the party. Build and handling

The V10’s body is made almost entirely of metal, but with the large screen and delicate controls on the back, it feels more like an expensive accessory than a solid device. There are no finger grips on the front, nor room for your thumb on the back. The screen takes up most of the camera’s space, and you have to reach around it. I found it almost impossible to use it with one hand, and instead had to hold it between the fingers and thumbs of both hands.

The display is protected by a shiny acrylic sheet, which can cause problems when shooting in bright conditions, as the reflective surface makes it difficult to see.

Autofocus

Two AF modes can be selected from the menu, one that locks on the center of the frame, and another that automatically selects the AF point for you. Both modes perform well and lock quickly. The center AF mode is the faster of the two, with minimal lag.

Fujifilm FinePix V10 Camera Battery  Life

It certainly takes a fair bit of juice to power the huge screen, and I managed to get about 120 shots on a fully charged Camera Battery Fujifilm before it died.

Memory Cards

The V10 uses xD memory cards, which slot into the slot next to the battery. Here are the write speeds using the Jpeg quality setting using an Olympus xD card. There are Auto, Manual, Natural Light, Portrait, Landscape, Sports, and Night exposure modes to choose from in the menu. Auto is a simple point-and-shoot shooting mode, while Manual mode allows for control over the flash mode and the amount of exposure compensation used. The rest are all automatic scene modes that adjust exposure based on your chosen subject, with the exception of the Natural Light mode, which simply disables the flash, letting you take full advantage of this camera’s wider-than-normal ISO range.

Zoom Lens

The V10’s 3.4x zoom range is a little longer than normal, equivalent to 36-130mm on a 35mm camera. Zooming is quick and precise, but I found the paddle zoom control cumbersome to use, especially since it’s perched on the bottom of the camera out of harm’s way.

I was impressed with the V10’s control of digital noise in macro mode. Images shot up to ISO400 are clean and sharp, with only a small amount of noise visible at ISO400. Noise becomes more noticeable at ISO800 and ISO1600, but it’s still usable for small prints of about 6×4 inches. Another feature of images shot at these high sensitivity settings is the heavy use of in-camera noise reduction, which smooths out speckling. Unfortunately, this also reduces detail and produces strange speckle patterns.

Conclusion

The Fuji Finepix V10 is a love-it-or-hate-it camera. The unusual operation may be enough to put some people off. That being said, the LCD screen is very good, image quality is good, and it’s simple and responsive to use.

GoPro Hero 7 Black review: GoPro’s HyperSmooth video makes the Hero even better

Smooth video, waterproofing and HDR photography tricks – the Hero 7 Black is the best action camera on the market The new GoPro Hero 7 Black is an action camera that’s on a mission to blow away all the competition. Not content with improving quality with 60fps 4K recording a year ago, GoPro has now enhanced its electronic stabilization (EIS) with even better “HyperSmooth” technology.
Indeed, GoPro’s new EIS algorithm is so good that it claims “gimbal-like stability without the gimbal”. It’s a bold statement – let’s see if it holds up. In short, the new stabilization features set the new Hero 7 Black action camera apart from its competitors and predecessors, but that’s not the only new feature.
The Hero 7 Black also shoots HDR photos, has improved audio recording quality, and offers the option to live stream video. The new GoPro can also rotate its UI so you can shoot videos in both landscape and portrait modes, making it the perfect tool for the Instagram generation. GoPro Hero 7
If you want high-resolution video on the cheap, the Yi 4K+ is a good choice, and it can shoot top-notch 4K footage at 60fps. It’s not waterproof, though (you have to add a housing before swimming), and it can’t record stabilized video at the highest resolution and frame rate. The Sony FDR-X300R offers an impressive OIS and EIS combo, but it can only record 4K at 30fps and is more expensive than the GoPro (£520). Finally, there’s the GoPro Hero 5 Black (£270) and GoPro Hero 7 Silver (£280). The latter is the cheaper version of the Hero 7 Black – it can shoot 4K at up to 30fps, and while video is stabilized, it doesn’t have the latest “HyperSmooth” stabilization features offered by its more expensive brother. GoPro Hero 7 Black review: design and featuresThe Hero 7 Black looks much like last year’s Hero 6 Black. It’s about the size of a matchbox, with the square lens housing still jutting out a few millimeters at the front.
It may be boring, but it’s a very good thing, especially if you use GoPros in a professional capacity, as you probably already own a range of mounts and accessories. In fact, you can use the GoPro Hero 7 with any accessory dating back to the Hero 5 Black. As with older GoPro cameras, the GoPro has two covers: one houses the camera’s removable 1,220mAh battery and microSD card slot, while the other hides a micro-HDMI 2.0 video output and a USB-Type C “super charger” port that can also be used for data transfer.
The power and shutter buttons are in the same places – on the left edge and on the top plate – and behind is a 2-inch touchscreen that can now be used in both landscape and portrait modes. There’s also a simple monochrome LCD screen on the front that displays key information such as mode and elapsed time. Battery life hasn’t improved since last year’s model, which is a shame. Expect about 70 minutes of use when shooting 4K at 60fps with HyperSmooth stabilization enabled. According to GoPro, HyperSmooth will consume a little
GoPro Hero 7 Black camera battery
power – so if you disable it, yourGoPro Hero camera batterylife will improve slightly.
Charging times aren’t long, especially when using the fast charger provided in the box, but I’d recommend carrying a power bank or a few spare batteries with you when you’re out shooting. Unfortunately, there’s still no tripod thread on the camera body, but the camera is fully waterproof to a depth of 10 meters. Being able to throw a GoPro in a pool and take it diving, surfing and swimming without worrying about it breaking is a huge plus. Its competitors, such as the Yi 4K+, require waterproof housings to survive immersion, which seriously affects the sound quality when out of the water.
If you need the camera to take it for a deeper dive, it’s possible, but you’ll need to buy GoPro’s £50 Super Suit case, which protects the action camera at a depth of up to 60 meters.

Kodak Pixpro AZ521 Review

Design and FeaturesThe AZ521 is one of the first cameras released under the Kodak brand since the company announced its exit from digital cameras in early 2012. As part of its successful bankruptcy reorganization, the company licensed its brand to Chinese manufacturer JK Imaging: the AZ521, AZ362 ($0.00 at Amazon), and AZ522 are the first new Kodak-branded cameras to hit the U.S. market.
The AZ521 is a bridge camera, meaning its design bridges the gap between a compact camera and a SLR. From a distance, it looks like a shrunken SLR, even with a fake viewfinder bump on top that houses the pop-up flash, but the zoom lens is fixed to the body. For $50 more, you can opt to upgrade to a nearly identical camera that adds an eye-level viewfinder, the Pixpro AZ522. I checked the sharpness of the AZ521 zoom lens using Imatest. Standard PCMag sharpness testing is conducted at the camera’s widest angle and uses a center-weighted method to generate scores. A camera passes the test if it achieves or exceeds 1,800 lines of sharpness per picture height. The AZ521 does just that, scoring 1,932 lines in testingKodak Pixpro AZ521  Camera BatteryThe studio space where testing was conducted was too small to test the lens at 52x magnification, but a crop of the Flatiron Building telephoto (below) shows just how blurry the AZ521 is at 52x. The same photo shot with a Fujifilm SL1000 scored 2,773 lines on a sharpness test, which is much sharper—though it should be noted that there’s some chromatic aberration in images captured with the Fuji camera. It can be removed with a few clicks in the software application, but the details that the AZ521 missed can’t be added in that way. Imatest also checks photos for noise, and this is where the AZ521 struggled. At the base ISO 100 setting, it was only able to keep noise below 1.5 percent. I took a close look at its images on a calibrated NEC MultiSync PA271W ($0.00 at Amazon) monitor to see how excessive noise affects image quality. It’s not a good thing; in our standard ISO test scene, the fine lines of a foreign banknote start to show noise at ISO 400 and disappear completely at ISO 800. The Panasonic FZ200 is a better camera for use in average light; it has an f/2.8 lens and keeps noise under control through ISO 800.

Panasonic’s ‘new’ Lumix FZ80D is a 60x superzoom camera

Designed primarily for wildlife and nature photographers, the original FZ80 was launched back in 2017. The new FZ80D offers minor upgrades across the board, but retains the all-important 60x zoom lens. The Panasonic FZ80D’s imaging capabilities are identical to the standard FZ80. The camera features a small 18.1-megapixel 1/2.3-type image sensor and a 20-1200mm equivalent lens. Maximum aperture range is f/2.8 to f/5.9.
Other features include RAW image recording, 4K/30p video, optical image stabilization, and continuous shooting up to 10 frames per second. ISO ranges from 800 to 3,200.
Even after seven years, the FZ80D doesn’t bring many changes or improvements. Panasonic improved the electronic viewfinder, increasing it from 1.16 million dots to 2.36 million dots, a gain of about 50%. The rear LCD is also sharper, increasing from 1.04 million dots to 1.84 million dots. The new FZ80D model also features a USB-C port instead of the old-school micro USB of the old model.
Granted, the FZ80D’s small 18.1-megapixel image sensor isn’t stellar, especially at higher ISO settings. The 20-1200mm equivalent zoom lens isn’t sharp at any extreme, but the FZ80 (and now the FZ80D) enables photographers to take photos that would be difficult or expensive to capture using an interchangeable lens camera system.

Panasonic LUMIX GH4 officially released: ultra-complete 4K video recording, more powerful specifications and performance!

Panasonic today officially released the flagship LUMIX GH4 of its Micro 4/3 mirrorless camera series in Japan, replacing the GH3 that debuted in September 2012. Panasonic GH4 batteryThe new camera is based on the weatherproof and dustproof metal body of the GH3, but has many improvements, making it attractive to both still photography enthusiasts and multimedia videographers. The GH4 features an ultra-high-performance sensor and quad-core processor, which can provide better color interpretation, dynamic range and noise suppression, support 60-minute long exposure with B shutter, and achieve 4K ultra-high resolution video recording. In addition, its autofocus is faster and more accurate, and it also supports eye priority autofocus.

On the official website, Panasonic has released many GH4 photos and videos taken by professional photographers. Although the full resolution is not available yet, the color interpretation seems to be the highest level among LUMIX models. As for the launch information, Panasonic has not yet disclosed the release date and suggested retail price of GH4. It is generally expected that the body price will be around US$2,000, and the release time may be between March and May this year. New sensor + ultra-high-speed quad-core processor GH4 uses a new 16.05 million pixel digital Live MOS sensor, and through the greatly updated ultra-high-speed quad-core Venus processor, it can achieve 50% faster image signal readout than before, not only achieving 30fps 4K ultra-high resolution video recording, but also achieving full resolution 12fps efficiency in static continuous shooting, continuous shooting of 100 JPEG or 40 RAW format images, and continuous autofocus can still maintain a good efficiency of 7.7 frames per second. At the same time, with better noise suppression, ISO 25600 is officially listed as one of the standard sensitivity options (not the original extended setting), and can support B shutter mode exposure for up to 60 minutes. According to Panasonic, the GH4 has also been improved in terms of color interpretation and light and dark levels. In addition, due to the high-speed photosensitive element, the GH4 can significantly improve the jello phenomenon that may cause moving objects to appear distorted when recording dynamic videos or taking photos through the electronic shutter.
However, it should be noted that Panasonic’s official senior management revealed that because the GH4 was designed with great emphasis on internal heat dissipation, it does not have a body anti-shake like the GX7, but the new machine’s better noise suppression ability may make up for this regret.

The world’s first 4K mirrorless interchangeable lens digital cameraThe GH4 is the first mirrorless model that can support 4K video recording, but its 4K video recording is not just an experimental or demonstration-like paper talk, but has extremely complete demonstration-level specifications as soon as it appears. It offers two 4K resolutions: Cinema 4K (1:85:1, 4096×2160) and QFHD (16:9, 3840×2160), with a maximum refresh rate of 24FPS and 30FPS respectively, and two video formats: MOV (supports LPCM uncompressed audio) and MP4 (supports AAC audio), and 100Mbps traffic is encoded in IPB.
For the more basic 1080p video resolution, there is also a 200Mbps ALL-Intra encoding ultra-high traffic mode that can bring extremely clear image quality. In addition, it also supports 2fps, 96fps, 4X and other modes to achieve slow motion and fast motion videos, and can also produce time-lapse photography and stop-motion animation in the body.
Faster, more autofocus points, support for eye focusAccording to Panasonic, the autofocus capability of the GH4 is more advanced than other Panasonic models. Through the newly introduced DFD (Depth from Defocus) technology, the depth of field information of each Panasonic original lens at various aperture focal lengths is used as a calculation reference, further shortening the hesitation time when focusing, and achieving an ultra-high-speed AF of 0.07 seconds. In addition, the focus segmentation area of the GH4 has also been increased from 23 points of the GH3 to 49 points, and the face focus has been strengthened to a more detailed face focus. After finding the face in the picture, the eye area is the clearest range. As for the peak focus required for manual focus, this time the GH4 has of course also been added as expected.
