Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 review: Tried and true

This isn’t an ambitious smartwatch, but honestly, it doesn’t need to be. Of all the wearables Samsung has coming out in 2024, the $299.99 Galaxy Watch 7 is the least exciting. It’s not an entirely new category like the Galaxy Ring, nor is it a new form factor like the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Even at my launch event, Samsung waved, “Oh, the Galaxy Watch 7 is here too — and, well, it’s really great!”
In other words, if you have a Galaxy Watch 4, 5, or 6, you know what you’re getting. In a year where Samsung has restructured its wearable lineup, the Galaxy Watch 7 is a staunch part of it. After using the Galaxy Ring and Ultra for the past three weeks, I’ve come to appreciate that.
Galaxy Watch 7 BatteryLife Still Middling
Speaking of comfort, wearability is a big plus for the base Galaxy Watch. The Ultra was bulky on my wrist, and I had trouble getting used to the new FDA-approved sleep apnea detection feature, which depends on a good fit. Not so with the Galaxy Watch 7. I have the 40mm Watch 7, and the sleep apnea feature works without issue. It’s just personal taste, but I also prefer the way the simpler round display feels on my wrist compared to the Ultra. The slimmer profile is another huge benefit. Even though it’s summer, I know this watch won’t get caught on jacket sleeves or other clothing. But just as my experience with the Ultra reminded me how I took the Watch 7’s chic, thin design for granted, it also highlighted its biggest weakness: Galaxy Watch  Battery life.
Even after a calibration period, I only got about 24 hours of use on a single charge. That hasn’t changed much from the Galaxy Watch 4, 5, and 6. The main difference with the 7 is that I can reliably get through a full day, whereas before I sometimes struggled to even do that. (People with the 44mm Watch 7 will have more time, since it has a largerGalaxy Watch7 battery
.) Fast charging would alleviate some of the pain, but I’ll add that I’m a heavy user of GPS and keep the always-on display enabled most of the time. You’ll get better mileage if you stick to the gym or turn off AOD.
None of this is surprising, since not much has changed on the Watch 7 hardware-wise. The only differences are that it has a new 3nm Exynos W1000 chip and an upgraded three-in-one BioActive sensor — and it runs Wear OS 5 and One UI 6 Watch out of the box, but those will eventually come to older Galaxy Watches, too. (You can already download the beta.) Overall performance is fast, though I didn’t notice any noticeable accuracy gains from the new BioActive sensor. Most of the new features come down to health features: AI health insights, an energy score for measuring recovery, sleep apnea detection, and a puzzling AGE metric that purportedly measures metabolic health using the interaction of sugar with fat and protein. I cover these features in more detail in my Ring and Ultra reviews, but the gist is that they’re hit or miss. Double tap is another “new” feature, and you can use this gesture to dismiss alarms, answer calls, or control the camera. Samsung has had this feature for a while, but it’s gotten more attention this year. I like it a lot, but again, the gesture isn’t limited to the Galaxy Watch 7.

Apple Watch Series 10 new smartwatch features: AI reduces wind noise and improves call clarity

IT Home reported on September 11 Technology media MacRumors reported yesterday (September 10) that Apple’s Apple Watch Series 10 smartwatch also has a voice isolation function, which can make users’ voices clearer when they make calls. Apple’s official introduction is as follows. :Apple Watch Series 10 Battery
Battery life should exceed 18 hoursThe performance of Apple’s flagship wearable device has been significantly improved this year, but when can it reach multi-day use?For iPhone, the voice isolation setting can already be used during calls, but all four iPhone 16 models have added wind noise reduction. Apple said that it uses machine learning algorithms to reduce wind noise to improve audio quality, but the specific effect still needs to wait for actual test results to verify its improvement over the previous generation of iPhones.

In addition to the updated display and beautiful new case options (the new polished titanium and deep black aluminum look great), Apple Watch has also gained a new health feature: heart rate detection sleep apnea. This isn’t unique to the Apple Watch Series 10, as last year’s Series 9 will also have it, but it was still a highlight of Apple’s presentation and another example of how they want you to wear your watch 24/7.
The only problem?
Apple Watch Series 10 Battery

Battery life is still rated at 18 hours, and 36 hours in power save mode (just half the claimed battery life of the Apple Watch Ultra 2). That means if I woke up at 7am and put my watch on, it would be dead overnight. Of course, the reality is not as extreme as I make it out to be. Although Apple has claimed since the Apple Watch was first released in 2015 thatApple Watch Series 10 Battery
battery life is rated at 18 hours, recent models, despite changes like the always-on display, are Apple Watch Battery
battery life can easily exceed that. It’s not unreasonable to wear it all day and all night to track your sleep, then charge it in the morning to be ready for the next day. Apple has focused on fast charging in its latest models to make it more viable: the Series 10 charges to 80% in just 30 minutes, which reminds me of the Series 10. If Apple said so Apple Watch Series 10 Battery
How excited are we about three days of battery life? Even reaching the Apple Watch Ultra’s 36 hours of battery life is an achievement, because in the real world, you’ll probably get closer to two days. As always, though, Apple made the Series 10 thinner. Of course, comfort is everything when it comes to wearables, but personally, I’d trade a 1mm reduction in thickness (about a 9% change) for a larger, more durable device. Apple Watch Series 10 Battery.
Instead, we’re faced with faster loading times, which no doubt have an impact. It’s easy to imagine a world where you wake up, put your Apple Watch on the charger for 45 minutes, get ready for the day, and then don’t think about it until the next morning. But that’s just another opportunity to think about what you should wear on your wrist. Overnight charging isn’t necessarily the best option, but having to charge it every day can still be frustrating. I just wish I had an Apple Watch that I could forget about and just put it on the Apple Watch battery charger every few days. Maybe next year.

Huawei Watch GT4 review: Perfect

The Huawei Watch GT4 is the company’s best smartwatch yet, with great looks and even better performanceHuawei’s recent refocus on wearables has been mixed. There are some models we like, and some we don’t. Fortunately, the Huawei Watch GT4 falls into the former category and is definitely one of our favorites so far.
Speaking of the app, I’m also not a big fan of the watch face selection interface. It’s poorly designed, the fonts are weird, and while there are a lot of watch face options, many of them are not free. The pre-installed watch faces on the watch do look good, and the added customizability is nice, but I wish it was a little more varied.
Huawei Watch GT 4 review: verdictBeyond that, the Huawei Watch GT4 is an excellent smartwatch. Not only does it look great, it’s also very accurate, has a wealth of health and fitness features, and has excellentHuawei Watch GT4  batterylife.
Yes, there are a few odd issues here and there, but if you’re looking for a smartwatch that performs as well as it looks, there aren’t many that can rival it at this price. . In keeping with the GT4’s self-proclaimed “fashion-forward” design approach, though, there are plenty of other styles to choose from. A new Stay Fit app has been added for more effective tracking of calorie intake and expenditure, and new sports modes – football, padel and esports. There are new watch faces here too, with enhanced customizability via complications.
All of this is in addition to the usual Huawei wearable features, of course. The watch monitors your steps, sleep, stress, heart rate and skin temperature, as well as blood oxygen saturation. It tracks over 100 different exercises, and has adaptive running training plans for 3km, 5km, 10km, half marathon and marathon distances. Huawei Watch GT4  batteryreview: What we like about it?In short, the biggest strength of the Huawei Watch GT4 is its accuracy. I haven’t had a lot of time with the watch so far – I’ve only worn it for 26km so far – but the results I’ve seen are impressive. As usual, I compared its results to a chest strap (MyZone MZ-Switch), and the GT4’s average heart rate differed from that of the chest strap by just 1.35%.
A similar story was told with satellite positioning accuracy. I compared the distance recorded by the Huawei Watch GT4 to that of a Stryd Wind treadmill during the same series of runs, and found an average difference of just 1.07%. These results are impressive, the best I’ve seen from a Huawei wearable, and among the best I’ve tested. Clearly Huawei’s new GNSS technology is working, which uses beamforming to compensate for the fact that the position of the watch’s antenna relative to satellite signals is always changing. Battery life is also excellent. As I mentioned, I haven’t had much opportunity to fully test its use, but after using GPS for about 3 hours and 40 minutes and disabling the watch’s always-on display feature, I was able to use it for about 7 days before needing to charge.
It’s good to see Huawei wearables are gradually catching up with industry standards in terms of third-party accessibility. Like the Huawei Watch, the Watch GT4 can connect with both Android and Apple phones, but the ability to sync with Strava and Komoot is a relatively new addition and is much appreciated in that regard.

Huawei certifies Watch Ultimate 2, supports UWB and satellite SMS

Huawei has certified a new smartwatch called Watch Ultimate 2 with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which supports UWB and satellite SMS. The Chinese OEM is conducting pre-launch testing of its flagship wearable and may unveil it at its upcoming fall launch event.
Weibo tipster @WHYLAB revealed that Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 has been certified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and supports satellite SMS. The wearable has appeared on the certification website with the model number WDS-B19 and also supports ultra-wideband.
It is worth mentioning that the WDS-B19 device has been spotted in the SDPPI database with the name “Watch GT Ultimate”. Now, new news suggests that the device may be launched in the market as Huawei Watch Ultimate 2.
The latest listing does not highlight any major details of this wearable. However, the listing shows that this smartwatch will support Beidou satellite SMS as well as ultra-wideband (UWB).
Ultra-wideband (UWB) is a wireless communication technology. It has the characteristics of high bandwidth, low power consumption, etc., and mainly operates through radio waves. Using this feature, the device can ensure better short-range communication.
On the other hand, the Beidou satellite SMS function allows users to send or receive messages via satellite when there is no network area. So, whether there is a mobile phone signal or not, you can stay in touch with your contacts in an emergency.
The source further said that the previous generation Ultimate watch was a durable smartwatch. But the upcoming wearable device may adopt the new HarmonyOS software system, which is more efficient and reliable. Huawei has not yet confirmed these details. Huawei Watch UltraThe previous generation smartwatch uses a 1.5-inch LTPO OLED screen and has a 100-meter diving-level waterproof function. It is the first smartwatch to support two-way satellite SMS communication. It also supports various exercise modes and health functions.
It is worth watching what upgrades the upcoming Ultimate watch will bring.

Garmin Vivoactive 4/4S review: Another great sports smartwatch

The Vivoactive 4 is more refinement than revolution, but it’s good enough to be our favorite fitness smartwatch yet. The Vivoactive 4 features a completely revamped design, a host of new features (most notably music playback), and, most importantly, a lower price, making it one of the most attractive fitness smartwatches you can currently buy.
Garmin Vivoactive 4/4S Smart Watch Battery Garmin
review: What you need to knowOne of the most notable changes to the Vivoactive 4 compared to its predecessor is that it now comes in two sizes, with the 40mm “S” model aimed at users with smaller wrists. This smaller device is lighter and cheaper than your average 45mm smartwatch, but it also lasts less on a single charge.
Inspired by the Vivoactive 3 Music, the watch now comes standard with music playback, including offline storage for Spotify and Deezer. It offers animated guided workouts, which combined with Garmin’s “coaching” tools make the Vivoactive 4 a better choice for runners and fitness novices than previous devices.
There are a host of other new features, such as Garmin’s Body Garmin Vivoactive 4/4S Batteryfeature and blood oxygen monitoring, which build on the core fitness tracking features of Garmin’s fitness wearables, which include GPS, heart rate tracking and sleep tracking. Garmin Pay is also supported thanks to its NFC chip, although only a few UK banks have signed up to the service.
Garmin Vivoactive 4/4S Smart Watch Battery Garminreview: designAs I mentioned in my Garmin Venu review, the only downside to the Garmin Vivoactive 3 was its unflattering design. It wasn’t ugly, but it wasn’t something you’d be eager to show off, either.
The Vivoactive 4 has largely addressed that, though. For a start, its screen is larger at 1.3 inches (versus 1.2 inches on the Vivoactive 3), and combined with slimmer bezels and slightly curved glass at the edges, the watch looks more refined than its predecessor. The screen isn’t an AMOLED panel like on the Venu, but a transflective Memory-in-Pixel display that’s legible in bright sunlight and, importantly, always on. Other major design changes are that the Vivoactive 4 has two buttons instead of one, and comes in two different sizes.
Garmin Vivoactive 4/4S Review: Major New FeaturesThe standout new feature of both watches right now is undoubtedly music playback. This not only allows you to stream music files directly to the watch, but also connects to third-party services like Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer. While you’ll need a Premium subscription to do this, it’s a lot more convenient than streaming personal music files, which requires installing the Garmin Express app on your PC. Garmin Vivoactive 4/4S Review: Sport Tracking and Performance
In terms of the number of sports it can track, it’s far superior to any similarly priced device in the Forerunner range. Sadly, it doesn’t have open water swimming or triathlon modes. Garmin Vivoactive 4/4S Review: ConclusionDepending on how you feel about features like Body Smart Watch Battery Garmin and music playback, upgrading from the already excellent Vivoactive 3 might not be a top priority. But happily, by adding Spotify support and improving the look of the watch, Garmin has addressed most people’s minor complaints about the old device.
Beyond these tweaks, the Vivoactive 4 includes a host of handy new features, such as hydration and period tracking, and animated guided workouts. Considering the relatively low price, there’s little not to like; as far as sports watches go, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better offering.

Motorola Moto 360 review

The Moto 360 is still our favorite Android Wear device, but it’s not a perfect smartwatch The Motorola Moto 360 used to be one of the best smartwatches around. The fact that it was the only round watch you could buy made it stand out from the crowd. But now you wouldn’t want one for two reasons. First, the chipset it uses, the TI OMAP 3, is now outdated, as it was already two years old when the Moto 360 was released in 2014. Smartwatches aren’t very demanding on power, but the problem is that this bottleneck still makes it one of the few smartwatches that didn’t get Android Wear 2.0 or subsequently switch to Wear OS.
In terms of basic functionality, this watch is not bad, and if you already own one, then you’ll most likely still be happy using it. But if you’re buying one today, then it’s something you should avoid. In fact, even buying the Moto 360 2 might be a mistake. Yes, it’s better in every way, but given that the company has confirmed that it will no longer be involved in the smartwatch space, future support looks very uncertain. The Moto 360 has long been the face of Google’s Android Wear OS. Its sleek design and eye-catching round screen were light years ahead of the bland LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live, so many customers were willing to wait until it was released to experience wearable technology for the first time. Now that moment has arrived, and while the Moto 360 is certainly a beautiful product, it’s not the leap we hoped for – although Google is as much to blame for the 360’s failure as Motorola.
Moto 360 designAs a product, the Moto 360 is a thing of beauty. Made of stainless steel in a choice of black or silver, with a crown on one side and no ports, sockets or inputs of any kind, the base model is the most minimalist smartwatch on the market, and the round screen is undoubtedly eye-catching. Yes, it’s thicker than the average watch, but it’s definitely not: you can easily pull it out from under a shirt sleeve. It doesn’t look big on a large wrist, but it will look big on a small wrist; the Apple Watch will offer two sizes to address this problem, while Motorola has taken a one-size-fits-all approach. Motorola has added Qi wireless charging to the Moto 360, getting rid of the port or charging terminal found on other smartwatches. The charging dock also acts as a display stand for the watch, letting you check the time while it charges, but you’ll have to carry the dock with you to charge the watch when you travel – assuming you don’t have access to another Qi charging pad.
The watch itself has an IP67 water resistance rating, which means it won’t get damaged if you get caught in the rain, though it remains to be seen how the leather strap fares when wet. We’ve worn it in the rain a few times, and so far the color has held up, but it’s starting to wrinkle a bit like any leather would. It’s a shame that Motorola didn’t come up with a stainless steel band sooner (although it’s now available through Moto Maker), but we still like the leather strap. Available in black and gray to match the black and silver watch finish, the Horween leather is comfortable to wear, has plenty of adjustment holes to fit wrists of different sizes, and, most importantly, doesn’t distract from the watch itself. You can swap out the strap, but it’s a tedious process, and since the watch is round, not all straps will fit flush.
Moto 360 DisplayThe visually stunning circular screen covers nearly the entire watch face. With a resolution of 320×290, it’s sharp enough to easily read text at arm’s length, and the display is clearly visible in direct sunlight even at the lowest brightness. Colors aren’t as vibrant as the OLED screens Samsung uses in its wearables, but the image still packs a punch when you turn up the brightness. We especially like the raised glass, which has beveled edges that catch light well, and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 should help prevent nicks or scratches. It’s a shame that Motorola opted for LCD technology over OLED, which would have been much better for the Moto 360 Smart Watch batterylife of the
Moto 360 – ReviewOn paper, the Moto 360 is the most desirable piece of wearable tech we’ve ever seen. It’s stylish, made from premium materials, and highly customizable with third-party watch faces. However, it’s essentially a compromise: an LCD screen and an outdated processor result in mediocre Moto 360 Smart Watch battery life, which puts it at the bottom of the smartwatch rankings in terms of durability. Android Wear is still in its infancy, with usability issues and a lack of features, and while Motorola can’t be held responsible for that, the OS can still be frustrating to use at times.

Apple Watch Series 7 review: The screen is the key

The Apple Watch has been hailed as the smartwatch worth owning, but last year’s Series 6 offered little reason to upgrade. Fortunately, 2021’s Series 7 is a much bigger upgrade – literally – offering a bigger, brighter, better screen. But aside from the increased size, little has changed from previous years. Given the fast-paced world of technological advancement, is the Apple Watch Series 7 impressive enough to be true – or should you give the 2021 model a miss and wait to see what 2022 brings?
Design-wise, the Series 7 takes a very similar approach to the Series 6: the case design is the same (albeit larger), the Digital Crown is the same, and even the bands are the same (which is good, because it means old models will still fit)Apple Watch Series 7 BatteryThere are both Wi-Fi and cellular options, new 41mm and 45mm case sizes, and special editions from Nike and Hermès. There’s a lot of choice, with three materials to choose from – aluminum, stainless steel, titanium – and a variety of colors to choose from if you want something particularly eye-catching.
There are also some new colors for the aluminum casing: Midnight Black; Starlight Silver, which has a hint of gold; Green, which is more similar to the iPhone 11’s Midnight Green colorway; and (Product) Red, which is closer to Bright Cherry. There are also a variety of new bands to match these new colors.
The Apple Watch Series 7 takes durability to the next level, with not only IP6X dust resistance, but also a 5ATM water resistance rating. This should make it more suitable for the “beach”, as dust, sand, and even water (50 meters) are not a concern for this wearable device.

Apple Watch Series 10: What we know

The Apple Watch was initially billed as an ambitious sequel to the iPhone. The original launch was a hybrid of a futuristic communications device, an app-based microcomputer, and a fitness tool, but it fell short on any of those things. After years of refinements and a complete overhaul of watchOS, we now have the wearable we know and love today: a health and fitness tracker that’s deeply integrated with Apple’s iPhone and subscription services.
Overall, it’s not a bad change, but the ambitions are significantly lowered when you consider that Apple imagined people would be sending each other heartbeats thanks to their smartwatches. Yet despite the gradual streamlining, the look of the Apple Watch has remained significantly consistent over the past decade — until 2024. If rumors and reports are to be believed, the Apple Watch Series 10, or “Apple Watch X,” could be as dramatic a transformation of the iPhone lineup as the iPhone X was to the company’s smartwatches. A refined look and new features for a new decade of smartwatches. Here’s everything we know about the next-generation Apple Watch ahead of its release later this year. When is the Apple Watch Series 10 coming out?

The launch of the Apple Watch is usually tied to an iPhone. The Apple Watch Series 9 launches at the same time as the iPhone 15, the Apple Watch Series 8 launches at the same time as the iPhone 14, and so on. This pattern makes sense because while a cellular Apple Watch or Apple Watch Ultra can be used on their own, they are essentially accessories for smartphones, and displaying smartphone notifications and controlling playback of media in smartphone apps are just two uses for the Apple Watch.
We won’t know the exact date until later this year, but given Apple’s tendency to announce its new smartphones in September and then start pre-orders a few days later, there’s a good chance that the Apple Watch Series 10 will launch at the same time. What will be different about the Apple Watch Series 10?Rumors of a square Apple Watch have cropped up from time to time, but this time around, reliable reports say the next-generation Apple Watch will look noticeably different and come with at least two noteworthy new software features.
New magnetic strapsIn the same report, Bloomberg claims that the connector used to connect the existing straps of the first-generation Apple Watch to the Apple Watch Series 9 takes up a lot of space on the smartwatch, space that would be better used for a larger battery or an overall reduction in size. Apple has “explored a new magnetic strap connection system” that could alleviate this problem, but the Bloomberg report warns that the system might not be ready in time for theApple Watch Series 10  batteries
It’s unclear how thin the watch will be, but if it’s thin enough that it doesn’t often get caught on your sleeve, then this is a welcome change.
Given how many straps Apple and third-party accessory makers already produce, switching to a new system, especially one that sounds more expensive to make and design, is not a change to be taken lightly. For example, if avid Apple Watch users decide to upgrade, they may be left with dozens of straps that simply don’t work. This has never stopped Apple before, but it will certainly give pause to customers considering an upgrade.
Bright microLED displayFor years, Apple has reportedly been trying to develop its own microLED displays to reduce its reliance on Samsung, which makes many of the displays for Apple’s various products. The Apple Watch was supposed to be the first place the company would test its homegrown displays, either on the Apple Watch or the Apple Watch Ultra.
Now, Apple has reportedly abandoned plans for brighter, more colorful microLED Apple Watch displays altogether, as these “fail to add significant value to [the Apple Watch] and are too expensive to produce to be economically viable,” according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Analysts and leakers are sure to always misjudge Apple’s plans, but at this point it seems unlikely that a new display will appear on the Apple Watch Series 10.
What we might get is a more power-efficient display. Apple has already The Apple Watch uses low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) technology, which allows information to be displayed and updated on the screen even when the watch is not fully lit. According to The Elec, Apple plans to use more LTPO thin-filament transistors (TFTs) in the next generation of Apple Watch to provide a more power-efficient, rather than more power-hungry, display. These transistors can precisely control the amount of light for each pixel on the display panel. Using more LTPO simply means that the screen will be more efficient at low refresh rates, which is what the Apple Watch’s always-on display feature relies on. New health detection and safety features

Using the Apple Watch to provide a non-invasive method of blood sugar monitoring is still Apple’s white whale. Meanwhile, the company is reportedly planning to use the Apple Watch’s ability to measure breathing to detect sleep disorders and let you and your doctor know if you may have sleep apnea.

ASUS ZenWatch 2 Review: An Affordable Android Wear Smartwatch

ZenWatch 2 introduction and specificationsWhile it still hasn’t attracted consumers as well as some manufacturers had hoped, the smartwatch market is growing rapidly and there are many great options out there right now. For some users, price may be one of the key factors that prevents them from purchasing a smartwatch. While many watches cost at least $250, and some are hundreds of dollars more, Asus’ latest ZenWatch 2, which we’ll show you here, costs as little as $129.

Of course, whenever we see an affordable smartphone, laptop, tablet, or smartwatch, we assume they are sacrifices made to keep the price low. In the case of the ZenWatch 2, that’s true to an extent, but you might be pleasantly surprised by all the features it offers, including different size options, interchangeable bands, and lots of other customizations. ZenWatch 2 is available in two sizes for both men and women: 49mm with a 22mm strap, and 45mm with an 18mm strap. Asus also offers three case colors for the watch itself (bronze, silver, rose gold), as well as a color-matched stainless steel band. For those who prefer leather straps, you can choose from khaki, brown, gray or blue. Sporty types will also appreciate the rubber strap options, available in blue, orange, red, and taupe. We have the smaller 45mm model here with a khaki leather strap for testing.

For even greater customization, ASUS allows you to create your own watch faces or choose from one of many pre-designed options. You can also download other watch faces from the Google Play Store.
Asus has made some improvements to the ZenWatch 2 compared to the first-generation ZenWatch, including a new magnetic charger for better ZenWatch 2 battery charging times, and a new digital crown on the side of the case to give users a way to interact with the watch.
