Medion is aiming high. At over $4,000, the Erazer Beast 18 X1 MD62731 is aimed at gaming enthusiasts on a budget. It’s equipped with the latest high-end hardware from Intel and Nvidia. We compared this 18-inch model to its competitors and other versions based on the latest CPUs/GPUs. The massive device not only looks solid, but also has a fairly rich selection of ports, including Thunderbolt 5 ports, an RGB keyboard, and stylish light strips on the sides and back. The input devices are decent, but this model really doesn’t stand out in that regard.

The top lid of the 18-inch laptop is made of aluminum, while the base is made of plastic. Despite the relatively thick base, it can flex slightly in places, but this mainly happens when you use too much force. On the other hand, the extra-large opening angle of 150° is commendable, although the hinges could be a little tighter. The overall height of the Beast 18 X1 is just under 3 cm (without the chassis feet), which is comparable to similar products from Aorus and Asus, but the weight is slightly higher at 3.6 to 3.3-3.4 kg.
