How to Transfer Data from Android Phone to iPhone

Apple’s devices are notorious for their closed software. So when I moved from an Android phone to an iPhone a few weeks ago, my main concern was whether I could take my existing data with me. It turns out it is possible. With just a little work, you can easily transfer all your Android contacts, calendar appointments, pictures, videos, SMS texts and more to your new iPhone. You can move Android data to iPhone in the following four ways.

1. Set up your new iPhone with your Android data

The best option for syncing Android data with iPhone is Apple’s “Move to iOS” app. When you configure your new iPhone for the first time, it lets you wirelessly import most of your important information to your new iPhone. So even before you start using your iPhone, it will be filled with your old Android data.

The only downside to the Move to iOS app is that it only works during the initialization phase of the iPhone. So if you’ve already set up your iPhone, you’ll have to reset it and start over to take advantage of Apple’s Android utility.

To get started with Move to iOS, continue through your iPhone’s setup until you reach the Apps & Data page. Here, select “Move data from Android”. On your Android phone, download “Move to iOS” and launch it. Enter the code displayed on your iPhone and choose what you want to sync. Your iPhone has imported your Android phone’s data. You can now proceed with the setup as usual.

2. Use MobileTrans to move Android data to iPhone

If you’re past the setup phase of your iPhone and can’t reset it, you can try a third-party desktop app called MobileTrans.

With MobileTrans, you can sync your Android’s contacts, media, calendar events, and more with your iPhone. However, unlike the Move to iOS app, MobileTrans requires you to plug both devices into your Windows PC or Macbook.

On the MobileTrans app, with your phone connected to your computer, select your Android device in the source dropdown on the left and your iPhone on the right. Next, choose what to copy to your iPhone and hit the “Start” button. Unlock your iPhone to start the transfer.

Because MobileTrans works locally rather than over a Wi-Fi connection, moving high-resolution images and videos is much faster and takes much less time than “move to iOS”. Disconnect your phone when the screen says “Your iPhone recovery is complete” and you’ll find your Android data synced with what’s already on your iPhone.

3. Sync Android Contacts and Calendar with iOS via Google Account

Your iPhone can also get your contacts and calendar data from the email provider of your choice.

On Android, to make sure all your contacts and calendar appointments are synced with your Google Account, go to Settings > Accounts. Click on your primary Google email address, then click on the “Account Sync” option. Open Calendar and Contacts.

In order to retrieve this data on your iPhone, you must add your Google email address to it. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts. Select “Add Account” and follow the instructions below to configure your Google Account.

4. Switch to Apple Storage Service

You’ll find most Google apps on the iOS App Store, but none of them are as deeply integrated as Apple’s own services. Likewise, you can’t back up data from iOS apps like iPhone or WhatsApp to Google Drive.

So if you’re going all out to buy Apple products, you should consider importing existing data from your Google account into those products. Apple Photos can replace Google Photos, iCloud can replace Google Drive, and more.

Unfortunately, there is no direct channel that allows you to automate this switching. You have to manually export and import your Google data, which you can easily do with Google’s Takeout tool.

On the Google Takeout website, select Google Photos and Drive, then click Next to download your data archive from there. Visit the iCloud website on your computer and log in to your account. Go to the Photos tab and click the cloud-like button at the top to import your downloaded pictures and videos.

For iCloud Drive, the steps are the same. Return to the iCloud home page and go to iCloud Drive. Click the Import option to upload all the files you got from your Google Drive storage.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 may be the most colorful, customizable phone yet

If you’re not a fan of the smartphone’s several color options, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 might be the phone for you, as a new leak has revealed some of the possible colors, with a wide variety of options.

According to Ross Young, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 will be available in gold, gray, light blue, or purple, a range of shades we’ve heard from other sources before, so that’s likely accurate.

But that’s just the beginning, because according to Young, you can also get a version of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 with different parts in a variety of colors.

Options here include one black part and two green parts, one gold, yellow and white part, one gold part and two yellow parts, one silver part and two navy parts, and one silver part and two white parts.

These are just the standard retail options – as with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, a custom version is expected to let you choose your own color combination, with more options coming this year according to recent leaks from SamMobile.

But at the moment it sounds like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 might be more customizable than almost any other phone – and even if you stick to the standard, there are more shades to choose from.

While Samsung is likely to offer a ton of color options for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, the company apparently expects shades of gray to be the most popular.

Claimed grey production is expected to be the highest in the first few months, followed by purple and gold. Meanwhile, multicolor options and custom editions are expected to be produced in much lower quantities, although they are the most interesting.

This makes sense in a way—grey, while boring, is unlikely to be as divisive as purple. But that’s a real shame, as it shows that we probably won’t see many of the best smartphones with as wide a choice of colors as the Z Flip 4 apparently offers.

Are iPhones not waterproof?

Since the release of the iPhone 7, every iPhone has had some degree of water resistance. The iPhone X is rated IP67, which means it can be submerged in water up to 1 meter for half an hour, while the latest iPhone 13 Pro Max is rated IP68, which means it can handle six meters underwater for 30 minutes .

However, while your iPhone might stay underwater for extended periods of time, there’s still a chance that water could get trapped in the speaker and cause problems later on. That’s why you might need a low-frequency tone shortcut to get the water out.

How do low-frequency sounds make water flow out of iPhone speakers?

Apple Watch Series 2 and newer have a built-in feature called Water Lock, which plays a series of sounds that make the device rattle and vibrate enough to squirt water out of the Apple Watch.

The iPhone’s Water Eject shortcut works similarly – when the shortcut is activated, a 165Hz ultra-low frequency sound is played to help drain water trapped in the speaker.

The trick we’ll use for this requires the Shortcuts app, which allows you to create and use automated tasks on iOS. The Shortcuts app is installed by default, but if you delete it for any reason, you can always download it again for free from the App Store.

Download and add Water Eject shortcut

Created by @Josh0678, Water Eject is a third-party shortcut that you can download for free from RoutineHub, a community for developers to publish their iOS shortcuts. After downloading the shortcut, you’ll be redirected to the Shortcuts app, and you’ll be instructed to install the shortcut or add the shortcut to your library.

Use the Water Eject shortcut to get water out of the speaker

After adding the shortcut, make sure your phone volume is turned up to maximum for maximum vibration. In the Shortcuts app, go to the My Shortcuts page and tap the Water Eject shortcut at the top to run it.

A menu will appear with the following options:

Begin: A tone will play for 15 seconds, after which you will feel a vibration, hear a chirp and receive a notification that the water has been sprayed.

Touch: The tone will play until you tap the stop icon on the shortcut.

Settings: You can choose to read more about the shortcut, update or share the shortcut, and send feedback.

Select Start or touch to play a low frequency tone and start squirting water from the speaker. The shortcut may not drain all the water trapped inside, but it should drain a lot.

While you may want to play low frequency tones for extended periods of time, don’t play them for too long – it may adversely affect your speakers.

If water remains in your iPhone, Apple recommends that you wipe the device with a soft, lint-free cloth. You should then rest the charging port against the palm of your hand and tap it a few times to remove any standing water. Place iPhone in a dry area with some airflow to remove residual moisture.

Apple Watch stuck on Apple logo? try these fixes

If your Apple Watch only shows the Apple logo, it may be stuck in a boot loop and not booting properly. While we can’t guarantee success, there are a few things you can try to save your Apple Watch when this happens to you.

Try force restarting your Apple Watch

A watch that displays the Apple logo and then flashes repeatedly is likely to restart repeatedly, a problem sometimes referred to as a boot loop. You can try to break this boot loop with a hard reset, which starts the same way no matter which Apple Watch model you have.

Force your Apple Watch to restart by pressing and holding the Digital Crown and side button for at least 10 seconds until you see the indication of a hard reset on the display. Usually this is easy to spot because your Watch screen goes black immediately, but if you’re already stuck in a boot loop, it can be hard to tell.

Once you’re sure your watch has hard reset, wait 30 to 45 seconds to start “from cold” again. You’ll probably know soon enough if this works because you’ll either break the cycle or get stuck again. If it doesn’t work, it might be worth trying a few times. Some reports on Reddit say that after ten attempts, the Apple Watch finally booted normally after multiple hard resets. Some users also reported that charging the watch between attempts helped.

If it works, continue with the “Prevent your watch from getting stuck again” steps below, as this may only be a temporary fix.

Try playing a sound in Find My App

It’s unclear why this might work, but there are still reports of users successfully using the Find My app to play sounds on the Watch. This seems unlikely to work if your watch blinks and restarts, but if it shows the constant Apple logo, it might be worth a shot.

On your iPhone, launch the Find My app and tap the Devices tab at the bottom of the screen. Find your Apple Watch in the device list and select it, then tap the Play Sound button. This is designed to help you find your watch if you lose it, a feature Apple has since added to other products. If you don’t see any success, you might want to try it a few times. If it does work, move on to the next step for a more permanent fix.

Prevent the watch from getting stuck again

Even if either of the last two solutions worked for you, there’s a chance your watch will succumb to a boot loop or static logo again. Ultimately, it depends on what caused your watch to get stuck in that state in the first place. It might be a software issue, we can try to fix it by following the steps below. But if there’s a hardware problem, there’s probably nothing you can do about it.

The first thing to do is try to update your Watch software. To do this, launch the Watch app and select General > Software Update. If you happen to own more than one watch, make sure to first select the watch in question using the “All Watches” button in the upper left corner of the Watch app. If the problem is caused by a software bug, updating to the next version of watchOS may fix it.

The next thing to try is to completely wipe your watch to “as new” and pair it again. When you do this, all personal data on your watch will be deleted. If your watch already sends this data to your iPhone, you won’t lose health or workout data.

Before doing this, you can check apps like Health and Fitness to see if things like your recent workouts, activity ring status, and step count are up to date.

When you’re ready to wipe your watch, launch the Watch app on your iPhone, then go to General > Reset and select the “Wipe Apple Watch Content and Settings” option. You can also do this on the watch itself using Settings > General > Reset. You will be invited to enter your Apple ID password to remove Find My from your Watch, after which it will be reset to “as new”.

When you turn your watch on to pair again, you’re invited to restore your watch from backup. It might be a good idea to select the “Do not restore from backup” option to further eliminate the chance of the problem recurring.

If your iPhone is stuck on the Apple logo, you can try to restore the software on it using a Mac or PC using DFU mode. Because the iPhone has a Lightning port that lets you transfer data and charge the device. Apple hides a diagnostic port under a strap connector on Watch models, but you need a third-party accessory called iBus to use it.
