Top 10 AI Predictions for 2025: AI Agents Will Go Mainstream

‍‍‍‍ As 2024 draws to a close, venture capitalist Rob Toews from Radical Ventures shares his 10 predictions for AI in 2025:
01. Meta will start charging for Llama models
Meta is the world benchmark for open AI. In a compelling case study in corporate strategy, Meta has chosen to make its state-of-the-art Llama model available for free, while competitors like OpenAI and Google have closed sourced their cutting-edge models and charged for use.
So the news that Meta will start charging companies to use Llama next year will come as a surprise to many.
To be clear: we are not predicting that Meta will completely close source Llama, nor are we predicting that anyone using the Llama model will have to pay for it.
Rather, we are predicting that Meta will make the terms of Llama’s open source license more stringent so that companies above a certain size that use Llama in a commercial context will need to start paying to use the model.
Technically, Meta already does this today to a limited extent. The company doesn’t allow the largest companies — cloud supercomputers and other companies with more than 700 million monthly active users — to use its Llama models for free.
As early as 2023, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said: “If you’re a company like Microsoft or Amazon or Google, and you’re basically reselling Llama, then we should get some revenue from it. I don’t think there will be a lot of revenue in the short term, but in the long term, hopefully there will be some revenue.”
Next year, Meta will significantly expand the range of companies that must pay to use Llama to include more large and medium-sized companies. Keeping up with the cutting edge of large language models (LLMs) is very expensive. Meta needs to invest billions of dollars each year to keep Llama consistent or close to consistent with the latest cutting-edge models from companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and others.
Meta is one of the largest and best-funded companies in the world. But it’s also a public company and ultimately accountable to shareholders.
As the cost of making cutting-edge models continues to soar, it becomes increasingly untenable for Meta to invest so much money to train the next generation of Llama models without revenue expectations.
Over the next year, Llama models will continue to be available for free to enthusiasts, academics, individual developers, and startups. But 2025 will be the year Meta starts to seriously make Llama profitable.
02. Questions about “scaling laws”
In recent weeks, the most discussed topic in the field of artificial intelligence has been scaling laws, and the question of whether they are about to end.
Scaling laws were first proposed in an OpenAI paper in 2020. Its basic concept is simple and straightforward: when training an artificial intelligence model, as the number of model parameters, the amount of training data, and the amount of computation increase, the model’s performance will improve in a reliable and predictable way (technically, its test loss will decrease).
From GPT-2 to GPT-3 to GPT-4, the amazing performance gains are attributed to scaling laws.
Like Moore’s Law, scaling laws are not actually real laws, but just empirical observations.
In the past month, a series of reports have shown that major artificial intelligence labs are experiencing diminishing returns as large language models continue to scale up. This helps explain why OpenAI’s GPT-5 release has been repeatedly delayed.
The most common rebuttal to the stagnation of scaling laws is that the advent of test-time computation has opened up a whole new dimension in the pursuit of scaling.
That is, new inference models like OpenAI’s o3 can massively scale computation during inference, unlocking new AI capabilities by letting models “think longer”, rather than massively scaling computation during training.
This is an important point. Test-time computation does represent an exciting new avenue to achieve scaling and AI performance gains.
But another point about scaling laws is even more important, and one that is severely underappreciated in today’s discussion. Almost all discussions of scaling laws, starting with the original 2020 paper and continuing through today’s focus on test-time computation, have focused on language. But language is not the only data modality that matters.
Think about robotics, biology, world models, or networked agents. For these data modalities, scaling laws have not yet saturated; rather, they are just beginning.
In fact, rigorous proofs of scaling laws for these fields have not even been published to date.
Startups building foundational models for these new data patterns (e.g., evolutionary scaling in biology, physical intelligence in robotics, world labs in world models) are trying to identify and exploit scaling laws in these fields, just as OpenAI successfully exploited scaling laws for large language models (LLMs) in the first half of the 2020s.

Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 review: The best fitness earbuds just got better

A complete upgrade to an already great pair of sports earbuds Building on the Elite 8 Active’s acclaim, Jabra wasted no time in launching a follow-up with bigger specs and an innovative charging case. Say hello to the Elite 8 Active (2nd Gen).Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 Headphones Battery

life is comparable to the first generation, and longer than the AirPods Pro 2 earbuds battery (5.5 to 7 hours) and Fit Pro earbuds battery (6 to 7 hours). Get 8 to 14 hours of listening time on a full charge, depending on how you use the earbuds. ANC uses the most power, and using spatial audio reduces that by 2 hours.

Longer playback time than most wireless earbuds

Up to 56 hours with the charging case Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 Headphones Battery 56 hours of battery life. 5-minute quick charge gets 1 hour of listening time

The next-generation Elite 8 Active, now available on Jabra’s website and online retailers like Amazon, not only becomes Jabra’s true flagship for sports, but also sets a new standard for the subcategory. Equipped with more powerful adaptive active noise cancellation and spatial audio, and a smart case that doubles as a Bluetooth transmitter to stream audio to the earbuds. Series staples like damage-resistant design and high Bose Headphones Battery life also remain unchanged.

The control scheme has not changed, nor have some of the shortcomings of the first-gen version. Even so, the Elite Active 8 (2nd Gen) are undoubtedly the best fitness earbuds, performing well in multiple verticals and outperforming the best-selling Beats Fit Pro.

Almost all functions are operated through the Jabra Sound+ app. Here, you’ll find all the main audio features, including EQ, music presets, sound modes (ANC/Hearthrough), and spatial sound. Call Experience lets you adjust different settings for voice calls (equalizer, sidetone), MyControls is for control customization, and Soundscapes has multiple audio clips for stress relief. The app also includes a Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 Headphones Battery level indicator, Find My Jabra (earbuds), firmware updates, and a sleep timer feature.

There are special wireless features outside of the app, such as Bluetooth Multipoint and one-touch pairing for Android and Windows devices. There’s even a shortcut widget to enable a listening mode (ANC/spatial sound) without having to go into the app. It automatically appears on the notification bar on your smartphone. You’ll also see it pop up on the touchscreen when you wake the device from sleep mode. Excellent wireless performance

The original Elite 8 Active was an excellent headset for making calls, and the sequel is no exception. Most calls were met with positive feedback. My wife complimented me on how loud and clear I sounded. The ANC worked well on voice and video calls, which, oddly, wasn’t the case with the more powerful Elite 10 (2nd Gen).

JABRA ELITE 8 ACTIVE GEN 2 REVIEW: CONCLUSION

Advanced adaptive noise cancellation and expanded audio capabilities through Smart Care are excellent upgrades that keep the Elite 8 Active (2nd Gen) at the top of its class. The signature features that remain, like the vibrant sound signature, longJabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 Headphones Battery life, and indestructible case, only add to their value.

Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni review: The best robot mop we’ve ever seen

If you want a full-featured floor cleaning robot, and don’t mind paying for it, the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni is waiting for you to buy at Amazon warehouses. It’s the most feature-rich robot vacuum and mop we’ve reviewed to date, with an incredible amount of tools and features.

If you’re going to order the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni, the first thing you’ll notice is how big the box is. That’s mainly because of its base station, which is the largest I’ve seen to date. While basic

Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni Vacuum Battery

charging stations can be small, brick-sized objects that you lean against a wall to let the robot rest, this one is absolutely massive.

That’s because it’s so versatile. We’ve seen a lot of models lately that combine charging stations with built-in vacuums, emptying the contents of the robot’s collection bin into a secondary bag inside the base station. These bags have a much larger capacity than the robot’s collection bin, saving you the hassle of emptying the bin after every cleaning

Once you’ve set up your map, you can power up the robot and start cleaning. The app automatically divides the map into rooms and names them, but you can divide, merge, and rename areas as needed. It’s also simple to set no-go zones and boundaries to keep the robot away from potential trouble spots.

16More controls are accessible through the control panel, which lets you control the vacuum’s power and water flow. You can also control the intensity of the clean (whether it does multiple cleans and how intense the mopping action is), and set up routines, which can be assigned to perform automated cleaning tasks.

. Of course, the

Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni Vacuum Battery

charging station does the same.

However, most of the base station’s space is taken up by two four-liter water tanks. They’re used to fill the robot with fresh water; clean the attachment after mopping, and collect dirty water at the end of mopping. Since it’ll be exposed to water, the base is equipped with plastic foot plates that the robot can roll onto to charge. This protects your floors from spills and residual moisture from the mopping attachment.

Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni Review: Should I Buy It? There’s a lot to like about the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni. There are few issues with performance, and the app is great. Its object detection capabilities also put it on par with the Roomba j7. Add to that the best-in-class mopping capabilities, and you have a winner. This robot really can significantly reduce the number of times you need to vacuum and mop your home compared to any other robot I’ve tested to date.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE review: Fans aren’t enthusiastic enough

The S24 FE feels less like a “fan edition” and more like an exercise in retail positioning. The Galaxy S24 FE uses a Samsung-made Exynos 2400e chipset instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the S24 series, which is a step down in processing power depending on who you ask. The FE’s screen is 6.7 inches, the same size as the S24 Plus, but the resolution is lower at 1080p, which isn’t sharp enough for a panel of this size. It comes standard with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, as well as three rear cameras: a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel 3x telephoto camera, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera.
It comes with 15W wireless charging, 25W wired charging, and a large 4,700mAh Samsung Galaxy S24 FE phone battery
. The S24 FE promises seven years of OS updates, which is great. All in all, it’s decent for a mid-range phone, especially with the 3x zoom lens, which is hard to find for under $800. To its credit, the 3x telephoto lens isn’t too eager to hand over zoom duties to the main sensor in dim indoor lighting, but I could see a fair amount of noise, even when shooting at ISO 200. The main camera’s autofocus is unusually indecisive, with jitters between subjects, and live view in portrait mode noticeably lagging. The camera system gets the job done, but I’m still not convinced that the S24 FE’s dedicated telephoto lens is the standout feature it appears to be.
If you go with a Pixel, you’ll need to make some compromises. The Pixel 8A has a smaller 6.1-inch screen, no dedicated telephoto camera, and a slightly lower waterproof rating. But that’s about it as far as differences go. Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Smartphone Battery
Wireless charging? Great camera? Seven years of software support? The 8A ticks all of those boxes. It has Gorilla Glass on the front and back, plus an aluminum frame. Maybe it’s because of the slightly larger bezels, or the fact that the seams around the edges of the phone aren’t as neat as on higher-end phones. Maybe it’s because of the 1080p screen, which isn’t as crisp and sharp as it should be. I mean, the S24 FE feels cheaper because it’s cheaper. I get that. But it feels more like using a nice midrange Galaxy A series phone than a flagship phone.
In my experience, the Exynos chip performs well during long Pocket City 2 gaming sessions Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Smartphone Battery
Doesn’t get too hot. It’s also capable of running all of the Qualcomm model’s AI features — including real-time language translation for phone calls, note summarization, and a surprisingly good way to retouch photos — which are sometimes fun but don’t feel essential. But if Galaxy AI does arrive in a big way, the S24 FE will be ready, just like last year’s model.

AI tools may soon manipulate people’s online decisions, researchers say

Study predicts emergence of ‘intention economy’ where businesses bid for accurate predictions of human behaviour Artificial intelligence (AI) tools can be used to manipulate online audiences into making decisions – from what to buy to who to vote for, say researchers at the University of Cambridge.

The paper highlights an emerging market for “digital signals of intent”, or the “intention economy”. In this market, AI assistants can understand, predict and manipulate human intentions, and sell this information to companies that can profit from it.

Researchers at Cambridge University’s Leverhulme Centre for Future Intelligence (LCFI) hailed the intention economy as the successor to the attention economy, in which social networks keep users addicted to their platforms and serve them ads.

The intention economy involves AI-savvy tech companies selling what they know about your motivations – from hotel stay plans to your views on political candidates – to the highest bidder.

“Attention has been the currency of the internet for decades,” said Dr Jonny Payne, a technology historian at the LCFI. “Sharing your attention through social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram drives an online economy.”

He added: “Unless regulated, the intent economy will treat your motivations as if they were real. Before we become victims of its unintended consequences, we should start considering the impact such a market could have on human aspirations, including free and fair elections, a free press, and fair market competition.”

The study claims that large language models (LLMs), the underlying technology for  AI tools like the ChatGPT chatbot, will be used to “predict and guide” users based on “intent, behavioral, and psychological data.”

The authors say the attention economy allows advertisers to buy current user attention through real-time bidding on ad exchanges, or future user attention by buying a month’s worth of billboard space.

LLMs can also capture attention in real time, for example, asking users if they’ve thought about seeing a certain movie — “Have you thought about going to see Spiderman tonight?” — and make suggestions related to future intentions, such as asking, “You mentioned earlier that you’re feeling overworked, should I book you tickets for that movie we discussed earlier?”

The study proposes a scenario where these examples are “dynamically generated” to match factors such as users’ “personal behavioral traces” and “psychographic profiles.”

“In the intention economy, LLMs can cheaply exploit users’ cadence, politics, vocabulary, age, gender, flattery preferences, etc., combined with intermediary bidding to maximize the likelihood of achieving a given goal (e.g., selling movie tickets),” the study says. In such a world,  AI models will guide conversations to serve advertisers, businesses, and other third parties.

Advertisers will be able to use generative AI  tools to create customized online ads, the report says. The report also cites the example of Cicero, an AI model created by Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta, which has achieved “human-level” ability to play the board game Diplomacy — a game that the authors say relies on inferring and predicting an opponent’s intentions.

The study adds that AI models will be able to adjust their output based on “the vast streams of data generated by users,” citing research showing that models can infer personal information from everyday exchanges and even “steer” conversations to get more personal information.

The study also proposes a future scenario in which Meta auctions off users’ intentions to book restaurants, flights or hotels to advertisers. The report says that while there is already an industry dedicated to predicting and bidding on human behavior,  AI  models will refine these practices into “highly quantified, dynamic and personalized forms.”

The study cites a warning from Cicero’s research team that “AI agents may learn to push their conversational partners to achieve specific goals.”

The study mentions tech executives discussing how AI models can predict users’ intentions and behaviors. The study cites Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, the largest AI chipmaker, who said last year that models will “figure out what your intentions are, what your desires are, what you want to do, and present information to you in the best way possible, depending on the context.

Nokia 2 unveiled in India with 4100mAh battery, Snapdragon 212 SoC

The Nokia 2 has made its debut in India, targeting the entry-level smartphone first-time user market. Curiously, HMD Global has not yet revealed how much the device will cost in India.
Instead, it has announced that the Nokia 2 will be priced at 99 Euros (roughly Rs. 7,460). The phone has very basic specs, with the highlight being the inclusion of a 4,100mAh Nokia 2 smartphone battery The company claims that this powerful phone can last up to 2 days of use on a single charge.

Here’s a quick look at the Nokia 2 specs:
Display: 5-inch, 720 x 1280 pixelsOS: Android 7.1.1 Nougat (upgradable to Oreo) CPU: 1.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 212 Camera: 8MP rear, 5MP front Storage: 8GB, expandable up to 128GB RAM: 1GB Nokia 2 smartphone battery4100mAhDimensions: 143.5 x 71.3 x 9.30mmConnectivity: 4G, dual SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB 2.0, A-GPS, GLONASS

The Nokia 2 will go on sale sometime in mid-November.

Nokia has also focused on saving fuel in other areas of the phone, from the low-power Snapdragon 212 processor to the energy-efficient 5-inch LTPS LCD HD display. The screen also has a high 1:1300 contrast ratio and Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against minor drops.
As before, one of the biggest draws of the Nokia 2 is its stock Android interface. Currently, its core system runs Nougat, but it is promised to be updated to Oreo in the future. Not many budget phones offer such a guarantee, so this is an inherent advantage for anyone who likes the latest software.

OnePlus 13 review: Finally, a flagship that can be hung up

After many attempts, OnePlus has made a great high-end phone. After a full second day of use on a single OnePlus 13 Smartphone Battery charge, it really dawned on me: the OnePlus 13 is a great phone.
I loved it right off the bat. I loved the soft-touch back panel, and the deep blue “vegan leather” drew me in from the moment I unboxed it. “Touch this phone,” I commanded as friends and I gathered for festive libations. The OnePlus 13 isn’t just about looks, either. After two weeks of testing, it’s proven itself time and again, with top-notch performance and days ofOnePlus 13 Smartphone Batterylife. Really. Most nights, I keep my OnePlus 13 on a wireless charger next to my bed. But New Year’s Eve was different; the fireworks disrupted my routine, and I was confined to a folding bed next to my fireworks-hating toddler. Sleep was spotty, and the phone charger was out of reach.
I could have charged the phone the next morning, but I never thought about it. In fact, I completely forgot I hadn’t charged the phone the night before until I plugged it into a charger that evening with 40 percent of the battery left. Sure, Wi-Fi usage was short that day, but two days of worry-free use on a single charge? That’s pretty special. There were plenty of moments like that as I tested the OnePlus 13 — moments that made me sit up straight and pay attention.
These are exactly the things OnePlus hadn’t done in its previous attempts to build a true flagship device. After a few tries, OnePlus did it. This is a really great phone.OnePlus 13 Smartphone Battery
Battery life is another big strength of the OnePlus 13, and it’s no wonder the OnePlus 13 lasts so long on a single charge: It’s packed with a 6,000mAh battery. That’s impressive considering that most other Android phones top out at around 5,000mAh. It takes a lot of time to drain an entire phone in a day; I certainly didn’t do that in my testing. I turned on every battery-draining feature I could find: High-performance mode, always-on display, and the highest settings for the screen resolution and refresh rate. Even with all of those features enabled, I was usually only at 60 to 70 percent battery by the end of the day. Using the default “Balanced” performance mode, I ended the day with 80 percent remaining. Regardless, this OnePlus 13 phone batterywill last you for days.

DJI Mini 5: First rumors about new 249g drone mention LiDAR and motor upgrades

According to recent reports, the DJI Flip could be making its official debut soon. However, the Flip appears to be one of several drones DJI has in the pipeline. For example, there is evidence that the Mavic 4 and Mavic 4 Pro will also be available in the coming months. Now, early information suggests that DJI may also be preparing a new Mini series drone. For context, while the Mini 4 Pro is more than two years old, the cheaper Mini 4K was available this spring.

Therefore, Jasper Ellens believes that the fifth-generation model will not be available anytime soon. Instead, the leaker expects the DJI Mini 5 to debut next summer, which would be on June 21, 2025. Nonetheless, Ellens and OsitaLV appear to have received photos of the same Mini 5 or Mini 5 Pro prototype. According to the single image that has emerged so far, DJI has added two additional front-facing obstacle sensing sensors that are sandwiched between the cameras on the Mini 4 Pro
DJI Mini 5 Drone Battery
These are reportedly LiDAR sensors, which may be the same sensors DJI uses in the Air 3S. Additionally, Ellens says the Mini 5 series will feature ventilated motors that are also more powerful than the motors in the Mini 4 Pro. DJI has allegedly managed to pull off these changes without exceeding the official weight of 249 grams Overall, drone leakers like Igor Bogdanov, OsitaLV, and Jasper Ellens have focused on the DJI Flip, which is widely expected to be the company’s next consumer drone. However, Ellens also revealed some news about two other upcoming DJI drones.
For context, DJI is also rumored to be releasing the Mavic 4 and Mavic 4 Pro soon. Moreover, it’s been less than a month since Ellens and OsitaLV first mentioned the Mini 5 series. According to the latter, uncited sources report that the Mini 5 drone “will be available by the end of 2025,” presumably after DJI launches the Mavic 4 series.

The best gaming keyboards of 2025: full-size, TKL, mini, and more

1. Asus ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless Best Gaming Keyboard Overall
It’s well-built, feels great, has a good number of keys (including a 10-key number pad) but doesn’t take up too much desk space, and it’s wireless, has tri-mode connectivity,Asus ROG Strix Scope II 96 Keyboard Battery
Up to 1,500 hours of battery life (over 2.4GHz wireless, lighting off). Among mainstream gaming peripheral manufacturers, Asus is the only one that has successfully brought enthusiast-style upgrades to gaming keyboards.
The ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless comes pre-installed with Asus’ ROG NX Snow (linear) or Storm (tactile) mechanical switches – I tested the linear RX Snow switches, which are pre-lubricated, have an actuation force of 45g, and an actuation point of 1.8mm. I’m not a huge fan of linear switches in general, but the NX Snow switches do offer a quiet, smooth, stable “refined” feel — and even I couldn’t find much to complain about. Plus, the keyboard’s PCB is hot-swappable, so you can completely customize your typing experience by swapping out any mechanical switches you like (it supports both 3-pin and 5-pin switches)
A keyboard doesn’t have to be wireless to take the top spot on our list, but this one is — with low-latency 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as wired (via USB-C). The battery life on this keyboard is impressive — to say the least.
Asus rates the ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless’ battery
life at 1,500 hours with 2.4GHz wireless — with the lighting turned off, of course — which is more than enough.
2. Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro Best Full-Size Gaming KeyboardThis keyboard isn’t hot-swappable, and you can choose between Razer Green (clicky) or Razer Yellow (linear) mechanical switches. Razer’s green clicky switches are a little heavier than other clicky switches, with a 50g actuation force and 1.9mm actuation point, but I’ve always really liked their loud and piercing sound. The BlackWidow V4 Pro came out before Razer started experimenting with more audiophile-style soundproofing, like you see in the Razer BlackWidow V4 75%
It’s great for gaming, though, with fully programmable keys (including macro keys/buttons, media keys, volume roller, and command dial) and an extra layer via Razer HyperShift, up to five onboard profiles, full N-key rollover, and up to 8,000 Hz polling rates. It’s a wired keyboard, so you don’t have to worry about the lighting and underlighting of each key consuming the Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro keyboard battery
life, and it has a USB pass-through port (somewhat rare even on full-sized keyboards these days).
3. Lemokey L3 Best TKL Gaming Keyboard
The Lemokey L3 is the first gaming keyboard from the Keychron spin-off brand, and it’s a pretty impressive product—especially if you’re looking for a gaming keyboard that you also enjoy typing on. The L3 is a wireless mechanical gasket-mount keyboard with a hot-swappable PCB and compact, compact design. Whether you use the included Keychron-exclusive Gateron Jupiter switches or your own, typing on the L3 is awesome. The keyboard features a dual-gasket-mount design with two layers of sound-isolating foam inside the shell, and the sound quality is much better than any mainstream gaming keyboard. It also comes with Keychron’s Cherry contour keycaps, which are two-color-injected PBT and are more low-profile than standard OEM keycaps. The L3 offers three forms of connectivity: low-latency 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.1, and wired (USB-C). Its 2.4GHz connection has a gaming-standard 1,000 Hz polling rate,The Lemokey L3 keyboard batterylasts about 200 hours (with lighting off).
