I always love a mouse that can do three things: shoot, aim, and switch weapons. The Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed does just that, and it’s the icing on the cake, plus it’s completely wireless, which makes it even more attractive. Look, I’m not a complete tech geek.
First, let’s break down why the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed mouse meets many of my needs. It’s a six-button lightweight mouse equipped with Razer’s gaming-grade wireless technology, Hyperspeed. It feels good in the hand, and I don’t feel like I’m accidentally pressing other buttons when I’m clicking like crazy in games. It glides smoothly on the mouse pad, but the mouse may slide to the bottom if you press too hard. Although it’s nearly 30 grams heavier than my daily Logitech Superlight (88 grams withRazer Viper V3 Hyperspeed mouse battery
88 grams), it doesn’t feel particularly heavy in the hand. In fact, for those who have a hard time deciding between a light or heavy mouse, the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed comes with Razer Gen 2 switches, which we already discussed in our Razer Basilisk review. Strangely, we don’t see Gen 3 switches on this mouse, as Razer’s other mice come with the higher version, but I think this was done to keep the Viper V3 within budget.
Combined with Razer’s software, which lets you program extra buttons, it’s a great choice for those who prefer a simple advanced solution. However, there are some downsides. It’s a bit flatter than I’m used to, which makes me feel like I’m just barely holding the mouse when I’m holding it with my fingertips. I also don’t like that I have to use AA Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed mouse batteryto power the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed mouse battery. I know that one battery can last for nearly 300 hours, but I grew up in the 90s, when finding batteries at home was impossible. It’s an innate fear that I’ve never gotten over, and anything powered by standard non-rechargeable batteries makes me sick. Due to this choice of powering the mouse, it also doesn’t have a cable. When it runs out of power, you have to dig around in a drawer or hop in the car to go to the store to charge it.
There’s no RGB on the mouse either, whic
h I wouldn’t classify as a drawback, just something worth mentioning for those who like their hands glowing when all the lights in the room are off. I know all this may sound like nitpicking, and I guess I am, but a mouse this well built, with all the Razer hardware like a 30K optical sensor and the ability to get an 8K polling rate (available as an additional purchase), really deserves a mention. When a mouse is close to perfection, you have to mention everything about it, even if it’s small.
Overall, you can’t go wrong with the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed. It’s very reasonably priced at around R1700 and is available for Mac and PC. It’s definitely going to come in handy when taking on the most formidable foes, and there’s no wire holding you back. It’s sturdy, has the right weight, and has just the right number of buttons. It just requires an AARazer Viper V3 Hyperspeed mouse battery, which I never have at home.
