Samsung Galaxy A56 5G review: A lot of innovation in the premium mid-range

The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G offers a well-balanced overall package in the mid-range market. Its new Exynos processor impresses with excellent everyday performance and efficiency. Coupled with a generous battery capacity, the A56 achieves impressive Samsung Galaxy A56 5G Battery life. A fresh design gives this smartphone a fresh look while retaining its Galaxy family connection. Furthermore, it’s now thinner and lighter, with a brighter display. Charging speeds have also been improved. Last but not least, its update cycle has been extended to six years. The rear camera hasn’t seen any improvement. Competitors sometimes perform better in this area, but overall, Samsung’s image quality remains good. Unfortunately, it doesn’t accept microSD cards, especially if buyers don’t have more storage capacity. The A56 also lacks 6 GHz Wi-Fi, wireless charging, and Ultra-Wideband (UWB)—the Galaxy A56 relies on Gorilla Glass Victus+ and IP67 certification.

While its display borders still aren’t the narrowest, they’ve narrowed again, increasing the screen-to-body ratio to 88%, which is quite impressive. The A55’s screen-to-body ratio was only 86%. Communications and GNSS—still no 6 GHz Wi-Fi, camera—now supports HDR video, phone features and call quality—dual eSIM battery life on the A56—equipped with a 5,000 mAh Samsung Galaxy A56 5G Batteryhas improved the Galaxy A56’s power consumption in idle mode, but power consumption remains quite high under load.

The Galaxy A56 5G is slightly longer and wider, but also slimmer and 15 grams lighter. It’s available in cool light gray, olive green, pink, and graphite. We reviewed the graphite color.

This Samsung phone features a brushed aluminum frame, giving it a premium look and a high-quality feel. Both sides are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+. All seams are tight and uniform, and the A56 doesn’t warp at all when twisted. Like its predecessor, it’s IP67 certified for water and dust resistance.

This Samsung smartphone features wired charging at up to 45W, nominally faster than the Galaxy S25 (25W, 4,000 mAh). However, due to the A56’s larger battery, this doesn’t make a difference in daily use. In our testing, the S25 took 70 minutes to fully charge, while the A56 took 71 minutes (50%: 21 minutes, 80%: 38 minutes, 90%: 48 minutes). On the other hand, compared to the A55,Samsung Galaxy A56 5G Batterycharging time was reduced by 12 minutes. This mid-range smartphone does not support wireless charging.
